About K. Anthony Preschool
Legacy
K. Anthony's Pre-School was founded in 1969 and named after Keith Anthony, son of Mrs. Margaret Johnson and the late Mr. Brady Johnson.
Mr. & Mrs. Johnson recognized the need for a caring educational facility within the community and purchased an old fire station located at 8708 Crenshaw Blvd. After a few months of hard work, the doors to the first six enrollees were opened, and before long, the school's enrollment was at full capacity. The school expanded in 1975, when an old nightclub building was purchased and converted into K-Anthony's Elementary School.
Mr. Brady Johnson passed away in 2015, and the elementary school was sold in 2022. However, K-Anthony's Preschool continues to nurture and mold the minds of our youngest learners. Mr. Brady Johnson left his wife, Margaret, a legacy that continues the pursuit of excellence for students and families within and surrounding the city of Inglewood.
Vision
We believe in providing children with a nurturing and stimulating environment that fosters their natural curiosity and love of learning. Our motto states, "Just as the twig is bent, so grows the tree". This was chosen because it metaphorically suggests that the child's mind is like a sapling that requires patient and constant nurturing for its proper growth.
We envision a program that fosters children's morale, cultivating a desire to develop personal and social values, and enabling them to understand, participate in, and take responsibility for their community and environment. With these developments, they will be able to manage their own strengths and weaknesses. We envision a school environment where students' experiences are positive, joyful, creative, and equitable.
Mission
At K-Anthony Preschool, we work tirelessly to provide an educational program that helps create a future that is a little less perilous and uncertain for all students and families.
We Intend to:
- Support positive relationships with each child and family in ways that promote individual children’s self-worth
- Utilize a curriculum and instructional tools inclusive of developmentally appropriate practices, scope and sequence aligned with research in proper content areas, and rich content to guide teacher instructional practices
- Provide access to appropriate and well-maintained indoor and outdoor learning environments
- Employ staff who have the knowledge, skills, values, and dispositions to support the development, learning, and well-being of all young children

School Renovations
K-Anthony's Preschool will undergo renovations starting in the fall of 2025. Students will continue to experience high-quality instruction during this time. We reach out to all parents for suggestions and input. Additional updates will be provided soon!
